Car Make and model: Subaru Forester T/Tb 1997
Location: Edmonton, AB
This is a perfect example of what a Subaru Forester should be. How long have you owned it?
I have owned it for over 5.5 years now. This is the first car I ever bought!
What was your inspiration for building the Forester?
Three years ago I received my first Hyper Rev magazine dedicated to the SF5 chassis. Looking through all the rare parts, I quickly fell in love with the 90’s race/VIP/street builds from the brands' catalogues. My goal was to one day build a Forester that looked like it came out of one of the magazines.
What is your favourite feature on the car?
The shape of it just screams 90’s!
What was the most challenging part of this build?
Honestly finding parts that I wanted. Everything is discontinued and the resell of some of the items is very expensive.
Tell us about the special and personal touches you’ve added to this car. What’s your favourite mod?
I wanted to keep this car era correct. Changing the paint from two-tone to solid black was something I really wanted. Syms grille/ hood scoop with the Liberal bumper cover gives the car a very aggressive front end look. Paired with the Corazón side skirts/ rear bumper cover, I feel as if it gives the Forester a Vertex style to it which I was going for. My Favourite Modification so far has to be the ARC Intercooler! Ultra Rare and very blessed to have that item on my car!
What condition did you buy the car?
It was in poor condition, the interior was out of date. The paint was oxidized, scratches all over the front and rear bumper covers. Not a pretty sight haha.
How many years have been put into this project?
Since I got the car. 5.5 years!
Ganador mirrors, how did you get your hands on those!?
I got them over two years ago. A fellow in Russia was selling them (Horrible condition.) Two months later another set was for sale and bought the pair as a backup!
Where can people find you?
You can find me in my garage detailing the Forester and/or walking around thinking about the future ideas I have for it haha. I Sometimes go to meets or cruise south side on sunny days (Whyte Ave.)
Any shout outs or thanks?
I have so many shoutouts and thanks. Thank you to Fresh Air for giving me the opportunity to showcase my Forester and share my story. Thank you to my wonderful Family and Girlfriend Mia, who has been patient with me throughout my automotive journey!
I want to give a huge shoutout to Jarret Taylor.. he was the one that got me into Foresters in the first place and has always helped me when needed. I also want to thank Jared Krueger for gifting me my first Hyper Rev magazine... without that book, I would have not gone in the direction the Forester is currently in. I would like to give some shoutouts to Jiggypop, Ruthless Clique. Exquisite Lifestyle. Also, all my friends that have made the car scene wonderful for me ... Anson lee, Stefano/Simone Bernardo, Korey Viveros, Colson Hostin, Chris & Shay, Jacob Thomas, Eddie Ferrari, Roger Dawson, Caleb Diwuu, Kyle Forsherner, Taylor Marko and Petya Medvedev for the wonderful shoot!
